History

Bishop School was named after Nathan L. Bishop. Mr. Bishop was the superintendent of schools from 1877 until the time of his death in 1909. He was a very active member of the community and an advocate for education.
Bishop School was built in 1925. The building consisted of eight full classrooms, one large kindergarten room, and an auditorium.
In 1996, the taxpayers in the city of Norwich passed a bond issue for an addition to Bishop School. A multipurpose room (Gym, Cafeteria, and Stage), a new kindergarten room, and a school office were added.
