This morning Norwich Public Schools received a 1.225 million dollar check from the Connecticut State Department of Education for technology and building upgrades.
In September, NPS applied for a state grant that strictly focused on the operations portion of a broader state initiative targeting the lowest 30 performing school districts. Only K-8 Alliance school districts were allowed to apply for the coveted money. After a month of planning, the district developed a comprehensive plan to upgrade various technology and facility deficits. Some of the things included in the plan are to add more wireless access points across the district; upgrade the video distribution system to a real-time communication format; and renovate the planetarium to a multi-subject learning dome.
