Superintendent of Schools 1942 -1965 


Thomas W. Mahan School opened its doors for the first time on February 4, 1969, serving the East Great Plains neighborhood of Norwich.  The school was named after Thomas W. Mahan, who was Superintendent of Schools for an unprecedented twenty-three years.

Mr. Alton P. Button served as Mahan's first principal until 1989.  Mrs. Lois Koch assumed the role of principal until 1996. Mr. Joseph Stefon was principal from 1996 until 2006.

Mrs. Rosalia Herrick is the current principal.
