Welcome to the John M. Moriarty Elementary School web site! We hope that
you will visit us often to learn about the many wonderful activities and events that
involve our students, staff, and parents. We are proud of Moriarty's reputation as
an outstanding learning community where children thrive. Well qualified and
committed staff members, high expectations, and responsiveness to individual needs promote
success for all children. The PTO and Parent and community volunteers play a vital
role in supporting and enriching our students' school experience.
John M. Moriarty has a total school population of 390 students in grades Kindergarten through grade five. Supplementing our rigorous and rich curriculum is a plethora of educational , cultural and recreational programs, many funded by our very active PTO. Independent reading, a top school priority, is encouraged through our Reading Hall of Fame and Reading is Fundamental programs. Building Bridges, an intra-district program sponsored by Project LEARN, exposes students to the theater, local historical sites, the environment, and the study of other cultures. Two programs, Second Step Violence Prevention and Character in Action, foster our students' social development and help make Moriarty a safe, caring, and affirming place in which to learn and grow. Through student-organized charitable activities and visits to local events and sites, Moriarty students forge first-hand connections with the Norwich community.
