An Intradistrict Magnet School is a school that accepts students from other schools within the same district. These schools will provide new opportunities for choice for Norwich families whose children might have specific interests in one of the two magnet-themes.
A parent/guardian must complete an application for each student applying. Applications are available online at www.norwichpublicschools.org. Paper applications are also available at: Moriarty Elementary Magnet School, Wequonnoc Elementary Magnet School, or at the Norwich Public School's Registration Center (located at the Bishop Early Learning Center on East Main Street in Norwich). The deadline to submit an application(s) is March 31, 2017. Shortly after the 31st, Norwich Public Schools will hold a lottery to ll the magnet seats available at each school.
Siblings of students already attending one of the Norwich Intradistrict Magnet Schools will receive preference in that school's lottery. Families must still complete an application to enroll their other children.
Yes. If your child is enrolled in and currently attends either Moriarty or Wequonnoc Elementary Magnet Schools, s/he may continue to attend that school. If the parent does not wish to continue at their current school, he/she must notify the school principal, in writing by Friday, March 24, 2017; this form may be obtained at the Registration Center and on the right.
Applications will be accepted for Norwich children entering grade K while a limited number of seats will be available for Norwich children entering grades 1 – 5.
