Norwich Educational EXcellence for Today and Tomorrow's Schools: Overview

The NEXTT Schools' Team will lead the process and work with the consultants from LEARN. Between now and March, this team will analyze the challenges the district faces and use the best and most exciting ideas from staff and stakeholders to develop the next generation of Norwich Public Schools. The Team will communicate frequently and is responsible for integrating the ideas people put forward. Designing means planning for what we want, not what we want to get rid of. If you surf through the channels on the remote, you might find something you want by rejecting the channel that comes up. Instead of taking the chance, designers decide what they want first, then figure out what structures and processes will help them create what they envision. The process will include data reviews, individual and group interviews throughout the community, review of the facilities, and a study of the current context of education including the economic impact in the community. Participation of stakeholders is critical. Designing the next generation of NPS is a team effort.

An Eye to the Whole System

The big idea of design is to make sure that what we want to accomplish matches how we are organized and how we do our work. And every context is unique!
