Welcome to Samuel Huntington Elementary School's website! I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit our site. As you can see, Samuel Huntington School is a unique and exciting place to be! Our school enjoys a rich history, having served the children of Norwich for over 80 years. Huntington School is truly a diverse community of learners. Approximately 375 students are enrolled in our preschool through fifth grade classes. We strive to make our school a place where all its members, students and staff alike, feel valued and respected. Five character traits provide the foundation of our character development program: respect, responsibility, caring, cooperation, and honesty. In addition to our Character Counts program, we begin each day with thought-provoking Words of Wisdom, which are aired over W-SHS to all classrooms. Our academic program is supplemented through the hard work and generosity of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). For example, each year our students attend live performances at the Garde Arts Center or play host to marine animals visiting from the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium. The volunteer efforts of our highly involved parents make these programs possible. Their fundraising efforts also brought a wonderful new playscape to our playground during the spring of 2007. Our parents are always involved in worthwhile improvements and enrichment activities at Huntington. We appreciate our families’ involvement and commit ourselves to working with them as partners in the education process. I hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about our school through this web site. Parents are encouraged to explore the PTO’s page, which you can access as a link from this site. I look forward to collaborating with you as we work toward making Huntington School the best that it can be. |
