First graders engage in various activities throughout the day. Flexible reading groups better accommodate the reading levels of all the children. "Buddy Reading" is part of Reading Incentive Program which involves book sharing with a partner.

First grade students work in a math center during morning work time. They  practice their addition and subtraction facts using Unifix Cubes.
