Grade Two
Mrs. Hammond
Second graders make terrariums and aquariums. They observe snails, guppies, pill bugs, and millipedes. Using realistic fiction stories, they learn more about nature. Students cooperatively learn through the use of choiceboards to go along with their reading and spelling programs. Choiceboard activities include writing poetry, creating interesting stories, and reading and summarizing stories. In math they practice addition and subtraction. Students also use data to make several kinds of graphs, including bar graphs, pictographs, and line graphs. Weekly homework is sent home the first day of each week. Homework packets are completed and returned on Fridays. Spelling tests are held on Fridays.
