Welcome to John M. Moriarty School's website! I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit our site. As you can see, John Moriarty School is a unique and exciting place to be! Our school enjoys a strong educational tradition, having served the children of Norwich for over 35 years.

Moriarty School is truly a diverse community of learners. Our students come from all over the city (in addition to our designated neighborhoods) because of our two Bilingual Centers (Spanish and Haitian Creole) and our Integrated Day Program. In all, approximately 420 students are enrolled in our kindergarten through fifth grade classes.

We strive to make our school a place where all its members, students and staff alike, feel valued and respected. Our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Program provides the foundation for our character development program and allows us to foster our students’ social and emotional growth in a positive and proactive manner. Through PBIS, we focus on three fundamental and far-reaching goals: to be respectful, to be responsible, and to be safe. We celebrate our successes and growth often throughout the year!

Our academic program is supplemented through the hard work and generosity of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The volunteer efforts of our highly involved parents make enrichment opportunities such as field trips, special presentations and assemblies, and family fun nights possible. We appreciate our families’ contributions and participation and commit ourselves to working with them as partners in the education process.

Here at Moriarty we also provide a structured after-school learning environment for our students through the BRIDGES Program. Students have the opportunity to work on homework and then explore their community through service learning projects and mentoring relationships.
