Welcome to our multi-age grade website. I will be updating this periodically to keep you informed about what our class is doing. Each week the homework sheet can be found on a link, so if you are confused or your child needs the spelling words, they can be found right here!
A little bit about our class: We are located on the second floor of the school in room 125. Our specials schedule is as follows:
Monday: PE 9:20 am (Please be sure your child wears sneakers)
Tuesday: Art 9:20 am
Wednesday: No Special
Thursday: Music
Friday: Library - Make sure your student returns their library books to school.
This marking period the students have been working really hard! They have begun to make a lot of connections in their learning, and they are very excited to learn and achieve. In reading we are working on fluency and comprehension skills. At this point in the year, second graders are expected to read between 60 and 80 words per minute. A great way to track your child’s progress would be to time them for 1 minute while they read a book at their reading level. Have them practice a few times with the same text to see if they can increase their fluency.
In math, we will be working on place value and addition and subtraction. Make sure you practice basic facts at home. This will make it much easier as we tackle 2 and 3 digit operations!
In science we are beginning to learn about rocks and minerals. Over time we will be learning more and more about geology and how it affects our world.
