copyofdr_frech.jpgKindergartners are required to write their first and last name. They are also required to identify both capital and lower case letters. The Reading First program begins in Kindergarten.  The program has 18 sight words and is based on phonemic awareness.  The students learn beginning and ending sounds and short vowel sounds.  The children work very hard on sounding out words and reading leveled books.

Through the use of Everyday Math series, students will count to 110; count by 1's, 2's, 5’s, and 10’s.  They will identify numbers 0-20. They will count backwards from 20.  Students practice counting by starting at many different points on the number line. They are required to identify coins and tell time to the hour and half hour.  The children use a lot of math manipulatives to explore and discover different math concepts.
