Music

Mrs. Engelhardt, Music Teacher

Music classes meet every week for 40 minutes in Grades 1-5 and for 20 minutes in Kindergarten.  Children take part in a variety of activities in Music class, including singing, dancing, listening, playing instruments, and creating music.  These activities are designed to help your child develop musical skill and to know and appreciate many different styles of music.

Music styles included in the curriculum may incorporate:

♫  American folk music

♫  International music

♫  Patriotic or Holiday songs

♫  Popular music

The fourth grade music curriculum includes the use of recorders.  Through the use of the recorders, students will learn how to read and write music.  All fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to participate in Chorus, a vocal music group that meets in addition to the students’ regularly scheduled music classes.
