We welcome you to Wequonnoc School! We are preschool through grade five elementary school in Taftville, Connecticut. Taftville is a small village and part of the city of Norwich, Connecticut. Our school is one of seven elementary schools in the Norwich Public School system. Our school name is drawn from the Mohegan-Pequot tribal language. Our best translation of Wequonnoc is “at the end of the hill south of the mouth of Little River”. About 260 students attend our school. Our staff is a committed team of people who work diligently to provide the best possible educational experiences for out students and their families. We have implemented Positive Behavioral Instructional Supports [PBIS] to assist in making our school environment an even more positive experience. We have a Family Resource Center [FRC] that provides preschool, before and after kindergarten instruction and child-care service to our families. On the Wequonnoc web site you will find a summary from each grade level team that explains the focus of each team. We also have a section that provides valuable drop-off and pick-up information and other points to help us keep our families safe. If you need any assistance, you are welcome to contact me or any other Wequonnoc staff member. It will be our privilege to help you. |
