We will be using the Cast-a-Spell Spelling
Program. Children will be expected to recognize
and spell high frequency words in
daily work.
Children learn to write by writing. Picture
stories to short personal stories to experience stories.
Skills - punctuation, use of capital letters,
use of invented spelling (sounds heard) is acceptable in first grade.

Children who can work independentaly without distubing others, choose activity centers, book corner, listening center, puzzles, math activities, building blocks, computer, etc.
Activities vary on different days.
Children have homework Monday through Thursday. They are responsible to return the assignments every day. Failure to do so means loss
of activity time and/or recess time.
Children are expected to follow the Uncas School rules. All rules are posted in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, etc. Our behavior policy is based on children learning to develop self-control and be responsible for their own behavior.
