In reading students complete
three themes in Harcourt Brace, and three trade books. Some of the
books are Dear Mr. Henshaw, The Magic School Bus Lost in the
Solar System, and The War with Grandpa. These books
are chosen because the can be integrated with the skills and science units
at this grade level. Students also use computer skills using Imagination
Express to complete different projects related to the three themes
in Harcourt Brace. |
| In math students continue
to be challenged in Everyday Mathematics. Multiplication facts
should be mastered by mid-year. Other popular topics include geometry,
probability, and fractions. |

activities in the three different areas: The Solar System, the Human
Body, and Electricity. Students just love to create simple circuits,
as well as adding a switch to the circuit, and testing different objects
to see if they are a conductor or and insulator. Students continue
to be intrigued learning about our vast universe and the human body
as well. |
| Social Studies brings us to
many different regions in the United States as well as learning map skills. |

lead, interesting detail sentences and a conclusion. |
| Fourth Graders also are introduced
to a six week Basic Aid Training(BAT) Program taught by the school nurse.
Students learn, in addition to Basic First Aid, how to give CPR on
both adults and infants, how to scope the situation, and check vital signs.
