Extended Learning

Norwich Public Schools Extended Learning programs (Aspire, Bridges, and TOP) provides after-school and summer learning programs during non-school hours. Enrichment activities expose students to new experiences and opportunities. These programs are aligned with school-day initiatives and link to the community through project-based learning. Norwich Public Schools collaborates with Norwich Human Services- Youth & Rec Division and other community based organizations to support extended learning programs within our schools.

Our Mission

It is the mission of the extended learning department to expose every young person to experiences that foster their creativity and passion, enabling all children to realize their potential and develop the confidence and ability to visualize a successful future with infinite possibilities. 

Funding

Funding for the NPS Extended Learning programs is made possible by the 21st Century Community Learning Center, Alliance Extended School Hours, CFECT, Norwich Education Foundation, Judicial-Youth Services Protection, and Chelsea Groton Savings Bank.

2026–2027 Extended Learning Program

Families, please review the information below regarding the 2026–2027 Norwich Public Schools Extended Learning After-School Program.

The Extended Learning Application Interest Form has been sent to families through ParentSquare. If you are interested in having your child participate, please complete the form in ParentSquare by the requested deadline.

Program Information

  • Program begins: September 14, 2026
  • FREE 2-hour after-school program for Norwich Public Schools students.

Program Hours

  • Huntington, Uncas, Veterans, Moriarty, Stanton & Wequonnoc: 3:35–5:35 p.m.
  • Mahan: 2:55–4:55 p.m.
  • Kelly Middle School & Teachers' Memorial: 2:45–4:45 p.m.

Parents/guardians may choose to pick up their child directly from the program to avoid a lengthy bus ride home.

Please Note

  • Space is limited.
  • Once the program reaches capacity, students will be placed on a waiting list.
  • Submitting the ParentSquare interest form does not guarantee enrollment.
  • Families will be contacted closer to the start of the school year if their student is selected for the program.
  • There is no cost to participate in the Extended Learning After-School Program.
