  • Read for 30-60 minutes each day.

  • Talk about your reading with a reading partner (i.e. mom, sibling, grandparent) for 15 minutes each day.

  • Write about reading (30 minutes). Respond to questions and thought prompts below:

  1. Identify a piece of descriptive language from your book. What words and phrases stand out to you, or help create a picture in your mind. How do the author’s words make you feel about what is happening at this point in the text?
  2. Think about the protagonist and another character and how they interact in this section of your book? Use specific evidence from the text to support your answer.
  3. Who is telling the story? Why do you think the author chose to tell the story from this character’s point of view? 
  4. Based on this portion of your book, identify a paragraph that reveals important information about the character/s, or conflict occurring in the story. Explain why this information is important to know as a reader.
  • Complete the NPS Learning At Home packet for 30-60 minutes each day. This can be broken up into smaller units of time.
