Message from Principal Funk

Welcome Families to the 20-21 school year at Mahan Elementary.

This year will definitely look different for students and staff. Mahan staff is implementing safety measures throughout the school to assure a safe learning environment. We ask for your patience as we put into place our protocols for arrival and dismissal as well as requirements throughout the school day. Families that have chosen the hybrid model have been notified of their child’s cohort and their new teacher. Families that have chosen remote learning will be contacted to make an appointment to pick up learning materials. Before school starts, families will receive our expectations for making the transition back to school as safe and smooth as possible.

As always, the Mahan staff is looking forward to the school year. We realize there is a lot to do and we can assure you that we are creating instructional time around filling in the gaps. We will also be focused on developing students’ ability to work independently on days they are not in school. We recognize that student success will take shape in varied ways and we are developing plans to make sure we support children in their academic development.

We look forward to seeing our first hybrid students on September 8th. Contact me if you have any questions. We are here to help make this a smooth transition.

My Best,

Donna Funk, Principal
Thomas W. Mahan Elementary School
