Assistant Superintendent

District

Dear Norwich Public School Families,

It is my pleasure to inform you that we have successfully filled the position of Assistant Superintendent for the Norwich Public Schools. As you know, Thomas Baird, former Assistant Superintendent, left Norwich in December 2019 to become the Superintendent in Hebron, CT. Since December, two retirees have been sharing the interim position until we could hire a permanent replacement for Dr. Baird.

An interview committee comprised of the following members unanimously selected our candidate of choice from approximately 49 applicants:

·        Board of Education members: Heather Romanski, Patricia Staley, and Mark Kulos

·        Teachers: Bill Priest and Samantha Cholewa

·        Principals: Adam Rosenberg and Sheri Tanner

·        Central office staff: Jamie Bender, Teresa Eagan, Pauline Lisi and me

Tamara Gloster, Middle School Principal from Jumoke Academy in Hartford will be our new Assistant

Superintendent and will begin her work in Norwich on July 1. Tamara has a BA in Mathematics, a Master’s degree in Curriculum, Assessment & Instruction, and a sixth-year certificate in Advanced Educational Leadership.

She was a mathematics specialist and staff developer at CREC for four years. She provided professional development to Alliance districts as the Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning of CREC for two years and since 2018 Tamara has served as the middle school principal at a charter school.

Tamara serves as a Mathematics University Supervisor in the NEAG School of Education at UCONN since 2016. In 2017 she received the Associated Teachers of Mathematics in CT (ATOMIC) Mari Muri Award.
