Learn what city's magnet middle schools have to offer

By Jessica Dolliver, For The Bulletin

On Thursday, the magnet middle schools are holding a virtual information session for fifth-grade families through Zoom in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Chinese.

Kelly STEAM Magnet Middle and Teachers’ Memorial Global Studies Magnet Middle will provide an overview of what each school has to offer and how to apply. The session will conclude with a question and answer portion where families can obtain further clarification on specific questions. To register for the Zoom info session or learn more about each school, go to the district website. Click on the APPLY link located in the main menu.

Sartor named Educator of the Year

Madelyn Sartor was recently named a 2021 Connecticut Association for Adult & Continuing Education CAACE Educator of the Year for her notable work as a trailblazer in adult education. She decided to move back to Norwich to find her dream job after completing a teacher training program in Montreal for ESL. Sartor was hired in 2018 and took on the role of ESOL program leader a year later.

In 2020, she decided to give up the role to concentrate on teaching. Sartor has been a technology champion in the classroom, working with students and staff to implement the latest technologies. She co-presented a workshop at the CAACE 2020 conference on using Burlington English an English language acquisition program that combines face-to-face classroom activities with anytime-anywhere access to state-of-the-art online interactive courses.

Sartor believes embracing change is the key to success in life. Each day she fulfills her passion by helping people achieve their dreams.
