This will serve as my final school learning model letter. We plan to remain in a full in-person learning model for the remainder of the school year.
The CT Department of Health DPH and Department of Education CSDE are strongly urging everyone eligible for the COVID vaccine to be vaccinated. DPH and CSDE have advised Superintendents that unless vaccination rates significantly increase in our state, the mask order may remain in effect for all CT Public Schools in the fall. Vaccination is the fastest and safest way to return to normal. DPH and CSDE advise that all people aged 12 and older should get vaccinated now so that they are fully vaccinated as of the first day of school as students will be returning to school in person.
Fully vaccinated students and adults are not required to quarantine from school/work if they are a close contact to a COVID positive person.
As soon as the FDA authorizes the COVID vaccine for administration to children under age 12, I will work with UCFS to establish clinics in Norwich. Please keep checking your email throughout the summer for updates.
