Adult Education Blog

Director Lefkowitz

Dear Adult Ed Community,

Norwich Regional Adult Education is in the midst of registering students for fall classes. Our program schedules are complete and we are seeing a great response from students throughout the region calling to come in the register and complete the intake process. We are doing this primarily at our Norwich site but also are able to do remote testing and intake if someone can’t get to the site. Teachers are excited about seeing students in person again. We missed the student-teacher interaction so much since we were out of school last spring.

We have been busy setting up the Norwich site to ensure social distancing and also wanting to create a warm welcoming environment to staff and students as we return to the building for classes. We will have in place on-site classes at our sites in Norwich, East Lyme, and Stonington and will be ready to deliver remote instruction for students who are not able to attend at one of our sites. We are prepared to offer Chromebooks on loan to students who are working from home and also have added remote tech support to assist students who are having trouble accessing technology if they are work from home.

We are very excited about some new programs we are lifting. Highlights include:

  • A new online Citizenship class
  • Our National External Diploma Program is now available remotely as well as in-person
  • We will be providing credential training in Home Health Aide, Serv Safe, Customer Service, and programs to support students' ability to be workforce ready.
  • We have added a Senior Seminar for seniors in our program to help them to prepare and transition to college, career, and/or post-secondary training.
  • We will job shadowing for students in person or remotely

Along with the adult ed staff and program leaders, I welcome you to visit our website www.norwichpublicschools.org/adult-ed and call our main office at 860 823 4299 for more information and to register for classes.

Wishing everyone well as the new school year begins.
