Letter to NPS Families and Staff - Mask Requirement Update

Letter to NPS Families and Staff - Mask Requirement Update
Superintendent Stringfellow
Dear NPS Families and Staff,

Last night the Board of Education voted to continue the mask mandate in the Norwich Public Schools for three more weeks. The last day of the mask requirement will be March 18, 2022. The date aligns with the federal mask requirement timeline for public transportation which includes school buses.

As of Monday, March 21, 2022 mask wearing inside Norwich Public Schools will be optional. NPS recommends that students and staff continue to mask through the end of the school year but masking will not be required. Students and staff who are not fully vaccinated should continue to mask until the end of the school year.

In alignment with the current CDC and Department of Health requirements, students and staff who are COVID positive may return to school after five days of quarantine as long as they are asymptomatic and continue to wear a mask for an additional five days. If the student or staff member chooses not to wear a mask they will need to quarantine for the full 10 days.

Please know this information is subject to change based upon a change in the COVID- 19 data and/or CDC/Department of Health requirements.

Sincerely,
Kristen E. Stringfellow, Ed.D.
Superintendent
