Every month, Norwich Public Schools recognizes one student, teacher, and support staff who go above and beyond their set expectations to make a true difference within the NPS community. Nominations are submitted by staff, teachers and administrators. Join us in celebrating these amazing members of our community!

The Key is Me! teacher award recipient for the month of November is Kerry Sas! Kerry is a 5th grade teacher at Stanton Elementary and truly represents the The Key is Me Award: taking personal responsibility to ensure that students feel included, welcomed and are successful. Kerry always takes the initiative to mentor new teachers by arriving early in the morning and staying late into the afternoon so that these teachers get the support they need to be successful. Kerry is also the face of PBIS at Stanton. She spends time developing the PBIS handbook, planning events and student engagement opportunities. Her dedication to PBIS at Stanton is part of what makes Stanton such a great school for staff and students alike. Congratulations to Mrs. Sas for your hard work and continued dedication to all Norwich Public School students!

The You Inspire Me student award for November is Sydney Ferguson! Sydney is a compassionate, strong and brave student. She has demonstrated the ability to engage self-reflection, self-management, and has advocated for other students in situations that required a lot of courage. She encourages others to make safe, respectful, and responsible choices. She is a natural leader and will often call on these skills to lead her peers in the right direction. Congratulations Sydney!


I Make a Difference Award Recipient Rob Dantzler

The I Make a Difference support staff award for November is Robert Dantzler! Robert is the Family Engagement & Attendance Coordinator at Wequonnoc Elementary. Rob’s work transcends focusing on attendance and engagement and centers around building relationships and being active in the community. He is the “man to see” and will do whatever it takes to ensure students are at school and ready to learn. The staff at Wequonnoc feel very lucky to have him as a part of their team!
