Dear Wequonnoc Families,
As winter is underway, I wanted to take the opportunity to provide you with an update on events
and happenings at Wequonnoc. Teachers and students were hard at work in January getting
back into their routines at school after the holiday recess. Students continue to receive daily
instruction in the area of social-emotional learning (SEL) using our ChooseLove SEL curriculum.
In addition, students in Grades 3-5 continue to work with Norwich Youth & Family Services on
cool-down strategies to help students develop coping strategies when faced with peer conflict.
The students and staff are enjoying their participation in these weekly groups!
Wequonnoc was happy to host an in-person event in December 2021, the Winter Family Games
& Craft Night. It was well attended by families. While in-person events are currently on pause
due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in January, we are working to evaluate and plan for our
next in-person event.
We truly believe that strong family partnerships are key to your child’s success and we
encourage families to participate in our monthly virtual Parent Teacher Advisory Council (PTAC)
meetings. We hold our virtual meetings on the third Wednesday of every month from 5:30-6:30
pm. Our next PTAC meeting will be held on February 16, 2022. You can find the Zoom link and
log-in information posted to Kinvo and Dojo, on the day of the meeting.
Thank you for your continued support,
Zachary Maher, Principal
